Privacy and terms

The short version

I collect only what you give me, I use it to send what you asked for and to follow up the way you told me to, and I never sell it. "I" and "me" on this page mean Maddy and The Second Act Coaching, LLC, doing business as In the Second Act.

What I collect

• What you type into a form: your name, email, state, phone number if you give one, how you'd like to be reached, and your answers to the short questions (where you are in the process, whether you have kids, whether you own a home, and what draws you to the book club).
• If you sign up for podcast episode alerts, I use your name, email and optional text consent to notify you when a new episode is out.
• What you tell the chat assistant. The chat on this site is answered by an AI assistant, not by Maddy, and conversations are saved so the team can follow up and improve the answers. Please don't share anything in chat you wouldn't want saved.
• Purchase details when you buy something. Payments are handled by Stripe and bookings by Calendly; I never see or store your card number.
• Basic visit information, such as which pages were viewed and which link brought you here, through Google Analytics.

How I use it

• To send what you asked for: a worksheet, a Zoom link, a receipt, access to a course.
• To follow up in the way you chose, and only in that way. If you tell me it isn't safe to text or call, I email only.
• To send occasional emails or texts if you opted in. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
• To understand, in total and without names, what women are asking for so I can make better content.

Who I share it with

• The services that run this site and do nothing else with your information: Klaviyo (email and text messages), Stripe (payments), Calendly (scheduling), Google Analytics (visit statistics), Lovable and Supabase (hosting and database), and the AI provider that powers the chat assistant.
• Attorney introductions. We don't share your details with anyone unless you tell us you want that. If Maddy thinks an introduction to a family law attorney could help, she asks you first. If you say yes, we share your name, contact details and the basics you told us with one featured attorney in your state. Featured attorneys are paid partners of In the Second Act.
• No one else. I don't sell or rent your information, and I never post, tag or name you.

Text messages

If you opt in to texts, you agree to receive text messages from In the Second Act at the number you gave. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. Consent to texts is not a condition of buying anything. Your phone number and text consent are never shared with third parties for their own marketing.

Your choices

Unsubscribe from any email with the link at the bottom. Reply STOP to any text. To see, correct or delete what I have about you, email maddy@inthesecondact.com and I'll take care of it.

Your safety

If someone else can see your email, phone or computer, use an address and a device that are yours alone, and use a private browser window to keep this site out of your browser history. If you are in danger, call 911. The National Domestic Violence Hotline is free and open all day, every day at 1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788. If you're thinking about hurting yourself, call or text 988.

Coaching is not therapy or legal advice

Maddy is a coach and a certified advocate for domestic abuse survivors. She is not a licensed therapist or an attorney. Coaching, the guide, the worksheets, the course, the book club, the podcast and the chat assistant are for education and support. They are not therapy, medical care, legal advice or financial advice, and they aren't a substitute for any of those.
